BookPress Pilot Terms
Version 2026-10 · last changed 18 October 2026
German law, business customers only.
Between Jonathan Hale, operating as BookPress, Schulstraße 201, 53757 Sankt Augustin, Germany (“BookPress”), and the business named at pilot sign-up (“you”). Contact: [email protected].
1. What the pilot is
You run BookPress on at least ten non-critical sites of a managed fleet of fifty or more WordPress sites, compare it with your current setup, and tell BookPress what you find. The pilot creates no duty to buy.
2. The licence
BookPress issues you a pilot licence for ten sites in total, at no charge, for twelve months from issue. Your account lets you split the ten sites into licence files as you like: one licence for ten sites on one server, ten licences for one site each, or anything between. The licence does not renew or convert on its own. At the end of the pilot you may buy a licence at the price published then, or stop.
3. Your part
- Install BookPress within 14 days of issue; otherwise the pilot expires. Bring at least ten non-critical sites onto it during the pilot.
- Before you install BookPress on a site and before each engine update, make and verify a complete backup (database and wp-content) and keep the WordPress installation in place so you can switch back.
- Report problems and measurements, and anything you expected and did not get: a short written note every four weeks during the first three months.
4. Leaving the pilot
Either side may end the pilot at any time by email, without giving a reason. You switch a site back to WordPress with the export command; it keeps serving visitors until you do. The licence then lapses. BookPress holds no copy of your sites.
5. Early access, no warranty
BookPress is early-access software. Do not run it on a live shop or any site where an hour of downtime costs money. BookPress provides it as is, with no promise that a given theme or plugin works and no uptime or service-level promise. Support runs by email, best effort.
6. Data, backups and responsibility
Your sites, databases and files stay on your servers. BookPress receives no site content; licence checks run offline. Your account holds only your name, email address and licence records. You choose which sites join the pilot, and you own the backups in section 3.
No loss of data and no damage is intended or expected, and the backup and switch-back rules exist so that none occurs. Should any arise from the pilot, you bear it, and you hold BookPress harmless from claims by your clients or other third parties arising from your use of BookPress, in each case to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or under the Product Liability Act.
7. Results and names
BookPress may use pilot measurements without naming you. Naming you, showing your logo or quoting you needs your written consent; naming BookPress in your materials before the pilot ends needs the same from BookPress.
8. Confidentiality
Pilot pricing, unreleased features and anything either side marks confidential or a prudent business would keep to itself stay between the parties, during and after the pilot.
9. Rights
No intellectual property changes hands. BookPress may use what you report to improve the product; you may use what you learn about your own sites as you see fit.
10. Everything else
The licence terms at bookpress.io/legal/terms.html apply where these terms say nothing; on price and term these terms prevail. German law applies; place of jurisdiction for merchants is Siegburg.
Acceptance
By activating a pilot licence in your BookPress account you accept these terms. BookPress records the version you accepted and the time, and shows both in your account.
